MUSARRA & MUSARRA 05'CLASSIC CHAMPS

BLACK LAKE NY. This beautiful lake is located in a different time zone, at least that's the way it felt.  It encompasses ten thousand acres,  and is less than 8 miles from the St Lawrence River and Canada.  In other words...it's up there apiece....

This was a trip the Musarra's almost didn't make.  A last minute change in the pairings had left a vacancy that they were thankfully able to take advantage of.  With a little less than a days practice, and no map they were able to piece together a pattern they felt comfortable with.

"We had found a small channel leading to a few docks that had access to deeper water recalled Frank Sr.  In practice my first cast on the edge of the channel produced a keeper smallmouth and a few casts later we caught a nice keeper largemouth.  I felt confident with this spot."

Keeper bass would be at a premium on Black Lake, a lake that has a 15" minimum size limit.  They were unable to boat a limit on the first day, but the three fish they did weigh in totaled 9 lbs.,15 ozs.  It didn't hurt that one of those three was a 5 lb.,1 oz. largemouth that ate Frank Sr.'s well placed senko.

Day two went much the same for the Father & Son team, but not so well for the first day leaders.  Frank and Frank Jr. caught four bass that weighed 9 lbs. 2 ozs. and found themselves right in the thick of things with a two day total of 19 lbs.,1 oz.

"We watched the first day leaders come to the scales with just two fish. Right about then we knew we had won it said Frank Sr.  It was an enjoyable trip made more enjoyable with my son at my side.  It's a day we wont soon forget."  We hear you Frank!
